I am an art-scientist.

There is a poetry that apes our existence in the space between art and science. I play with this space where science and fiction coalesce. I construct sets, stories, images, machines and ‘art-scientific’ investigations, armed with and bound only by truth and imagination. I enjoy exploring impossibility, grasping intangibles and making maps of reality. I am in love with the universe.

Rahni Allan

Rahni Allan is an art-scientist and interdisciplinary artist deeply fascinated by deep space and celestial bodies. She is the founder of Artist Run Space Exploration (A.R.S.E.), a platform that merges art and science to explore the mysteries of reality. Rahni’s work delves into the intersections of art, science, and culture, creating sets, stories, images, and machines that blur the lines between truth and imagination.

Graduating with a BFA Hons from the Tasmanian School of Art in 2011, Rahni Allan has been actively involved in the Tasmanian arts scene while also showcasing her work to national and international audiences. Her pieces have been exhibited extensively in Tasmanian galleries, including the Universities’ Entrepot and Plimsoll Galleries, Salamanca Arts Centre (SAC), and local ARIs such as Launceston’s Sawtooth Gallery and Hobart’s Inflight and Constance Galleries.

Rahni’s achievements include being a finalist in the 2013 Tasmanian Portraiture Prize touring exhibition (Salamanca Arts Centre, Devonport Regional Gallery and Burnie Regional Gallery), contributing to the ISEA Art(ist’s) In Space Panel, and producing work for Networked Art Forms and Tactical Magick (MAF:TMFC) at Contemporary Art Tasmania (CAT). In 2013 she was awarded the MONA Scholarship Prize to produce an installation for the museum’s Roundhouse Gallery and Mona’s permanent collection. In 2014 she contributed to Occam’s Razor: Art, Science and Aesthetics at Propeller and !dea Galleries in Toronto, participated in Ayatana’s AIR Currents Residency in Nova Scotia, and exhibited at Umpqua Community College Art Gallery, Portland, Oregon.

As a wonder wanderer engaged to the Universe, Rahni Allan’s work embodies a poetic exploration of the space where science and fiction converge, embracing the beauty of impossibility and intangibles. Her passion for the universe shines through her art-scientific investigations, making her a unique and visionary artist in the realm of space exploration and artistic expression.
